Mobile Communications and Safety

Drop of water and leaf

International policy for mobile communications and safety defines the basic principles of Deutsche Telekom's responsible use of mobile communication technologies.

The safety and environmental compatibility of our mobile communication networks and our innovative products has top priority at Deutsche Telekom.

We are well aware that our long-term business success is dependent on safe technology usage and its acceptance by the public. We are therefore focusing on the well-founded clarification of open issues regarding mobile communications technology and on an open constructive dialog with political decision makers, critics and interested citizens.

Deutsche Telekom is convinced that the compliance with the international safety guidelines and limit values for base stations and mobile phones guarantees the safe usage of mobile communications for all. This conviction is based on the current conclusion of independent national and international expert bodies and committees who continuously evaluate the current state of scientific knowledge and review the international safety guidelines. These are for example the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) or the World Health Organization (WHO).

Our international policy for mobile communications and safety (EMF-Policy) defines the basic principles of our responsible use of mobile communication technologies. In this document, we commit our self to greater transparency, information and participation. We financially support independent health research in the mobile communication sector in order to ensure that future developments in mobile communications technology can continue to be used safely. The EMF policy has been implemented differently in different countries, in line with the local circumstances and social requirements.
