Deutsche Telekom Strategic Investments
Deutsche Telekom Strategic Investments (DTSI) is Deutsche Telekom’s strategic investment group.
Founded in 1997, with a cumulative budget volume of over 800 million dollars, DTSI is one of the largest corporate venture funds in the technology industry. The group has made over 200 investments and manages a current portfolio of around 90 companies, including several "unicorns".
DTSI supports and encourages breakthrough innovation that produces new and exciting services and solutions for Deutsche Telekom’s 200 million mobile, fixed-network, and broadband customers.
We understand that it takes more than capital to be successful, and provide the highly-sophisticated strategic, functional and operational venture building expertise essential to the development of great companies. We partner with the people and the companies we invest in.
Deutsche Telekom invests in innovation internally, in the network core, and outside of the core, via the technology ecosystem in which we participate. We believe it is essential that we intelligently apply a certain amount of capital to finance and encourage external innovation that we might ultimately be able to integrate into the network directly, or develop via commercial relationships. The return that we see on this investment is not just financial, related to the capital invested, but also economically relevant to the commercial potential of the new and exciting solutions we offer customers.
As Europe’s leading telecommunications company, innovation is in Deutsche Telekom’s DNA. We believe that the convergence of communications networks and devices with the internet, a market comprising over 7 billion connected customers and over 50 billion devices, will create more wealth, disrupt more businesses, and unleash more innovation than any force in the history of technology. We invest at the forefront of this mobile internet convergence wave.
