Telekom launches its new "Communicar" portal
Communicar is the information portal for useful car-related smartphone apps.
More and more directly or indirectly driving-related applications are now being used in cars. Deutsche Telekom launched its new "Communicar" portal which provides news, test reports and information relating to smartphone.
The average German spends two and a half years sitting in his or her car ‒ this is time that could be used more profitably. The decision to buy a particular car will, in the future, therefore also take into account how we could spend our time more sensibly while driving. A preliminary consumer study conducted by Communicar together with marketing research institute NW Research in August 2011 reveals that two thirds of car drivers already use apps before or during their journey.
Journey planning, vehicle diagnostics or navigation - all car drivers who are travelling for private or business purposes with their smartphone can find out about new, useful, free apps at www.communicar.de.
App Finder for iPhone and Android devices
One key feature of the new portal is an extensive search facility that allows direct access to app stores for iOS and Android devices, organized on the basis of the specific operating systems of the mobile device. The Communicar editorial department presents selected apps and tests them. Users can contribute their own experiences and questions.
Apps are downloaded via the respective app stores and are also billed via them. Existing user accounts can be used without any problem. A mobile version of this page will be produced in a second stage and this will allow direct download to a cell phone if required.
