Abbreviation for Deutscher Aktien-Index (German Share Index); is a weighted index containing 30 shares of leading companies that are officially traded at German exchanges. The DAX is therefore a important indicator of activity on the German stock market. The value of the DAX is determined at the stock exchange every 15 seconds. Companies included in the DAX are chosen on the basis of their good share turnover and high market capitalization.
