- Marginal lending facility

Credit institutions requiring liquidity in the short term can raise loans with one-day maturities with the European Central Bank (ECB) under the marginal lending facility. Interest is payable on such loans at the marginal lending rate. Alongside the deposit facility and the main refinancing operation, marginal lending facility is one of the prime interests of the ECBS (European Central Bank System). The marginal lending facility is comparable to the former lombard rate.
