Deutsche Telekom and United Internet conclude De-Mail alliance

  • Shared address extension, "de-mail.de".
  • The standard applies to almost two thirds of the German e-mail market.
  • Use of the same basic technology.

In the future, major e-mail providers Deutsche Telekom and United Internet will be giving all their customers addresses based on the standard extension "de-mail.de" . Such addresses will look similar to the following examples: john.long@t-online.de-mail.de , sue.short@gmx.de-mail.de , john.doe@web.de-mail.de . By using the name of the law in the domain name, Deutsche Telekom and United Internet want to provide additional protection to their customers and prevent confusion. In this way, the largest German e-mail brands intend to harmonize the communication of future De-Mail users and to ensure the nationwide success of De-Mail . The four brands T-Online , 1&1, GMX and WEB.DE together cover almost two thirds of the German e-mail market. More than a million people have already reserved their preferred De-Mail address with one or other of the two leading companies. United Internet and Telekom have also agreed to base their services on a consistent shared technical De-Mail infrastructure, as well as undertaking to develop their core De-Mail system jointly in the future. De-Mail services will be marketed by the two companies independently of each other to consumers, medium-sized and large corporations. De-Mail is convenient, secure and verifiable - and will save you time and money. Individuals and companies can use De-Mail to send and receive messages and documents securely, confidentially and traceably. The main advantage of De-Mail is that transmission and receipt is controlled easily from your computer. In the future De-Mail can also be used via Smartphone, tablet or laptop while commuting, traveling on business or on holiday. This will save our customers valuable time and give them better mobility. Great interest has also been expressed in De-Mail from the business and public administration sectors. They can use it to save processing, printing, envelope packing and delivery costs. They also gain a fast and verifiable channel of communication to customers and citizens.
