Deutsche Telekom partners with Depeche Mode on 2013 Summer European tour

  • The telecommunication group is the presenting partner across nine countries and 16 tour dates
  • Telekom initiates a crowdsourced exhibition of art and personal mementos from Depeche Mode fans around the globe

Deutsche Telekom are pleased to announce its partnership with Depeche Mode. As part of a European tour this summer, Telekom will present concert events in nine countries alongside a fan exhibition, curated by the international music program “Electronic Beats”, showing art and memorabilia from supporters and devotees of the band. The band’s new album “Delta Machine” will be released on March 22nd when it will be made available online and at retailers everywhere. Additionally, and exclusively for Telekom customers, the album will be available via Spotify, Musicload and the Telekom Music Shop. The first single “Heaven” is available on February 1st. As part of the partnership with Depeche Mode, fans will be eligible to win tickets for the band’s concerts via www.telekom-streetgigs.de. Wolfgang Kampbartold, vice president of International Marketing Communications and Sponsoring at Deutsche Telekom, emphasises the significance of the partnership: “Our tagline, 'Life is for Sharing' is at the heart of our activities when supporting music events. Depeche Mode are global music icons, famous for their incredibly loyal and communicative fans and, of course, their fantastic gigs. We are pleased the band backs our vision and will be working with Deutsche Telekom as tour partner. Together with the Depeche Mode community we want to create a unique fan experience using our technology, products and services.” “It’s always been important for us to harness innovative technology to make each tour bigger and better than the last”, says lead singer Dave Gahan who is looking forward to the collaboration. “With the support of Deutsche Telekom we’ll be able to allow more people than ever before to share and take part in our upcoming European tour, no matter where they are.” The partnership, above all, focuses on the fans. Across the world, followers of the band are invited to participate in a unique exhibition by contributing their own personal memorabilia and artworks. “Electronic Beats by Telekom”, the international music program, will curate a virtual show at www.electronicbeats.net while selected cities such as Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Zagreb and Prague will host exhibitions of some of the greatest and most interesting pieces. In Germany the concerts will be presented by the music program “Telekom Streetgigs”. The partnership with the British band continues Telekom's tradition of teaming up with huge international artists such as Katy Perry, Foo Fighters, Pet Shop Boys and Robbie Williams. As one of the leading companies in the telecommunications industry, Telekom will support the tour and the album launch with its expansive knowledge, innovative products and media coverage. Depeche Mode are a musical phenomenon. Inspiring idolisation by their fans, their popularity has grown in accordance with their own 32-year trajectory; from young synthpop band to international stadium stars. Their last tour in 2009/2010 broke all records with more than 2.5 million tickets sold.
