CeBIT 2015: Telekom achieves a positive outcome

  • Increased number of exhibition visitors/increased proportion of trade visitors
  • Duration of stay increased
  • Brand presence shows symbiosis between physical and digital industries

This year, Deutsche Telekom has once again achieved a positive outcome at CeBIT. With its central theme, “d!conomy”, the world’s largest IT exhibition attracted more than 220,000 guests from over 100 nations to Hanover. More than 100 000, almost half of all guests, paid a visit to the Telekom exhibition stand. Alongside its strategy to promote the digital economy, with particular focus on digitisation standards, data analysis and security, Europe’s leading Telecommunications service provider presented comprehensive solutions for business and major clients under the claim, “Wirtschaftswunder 4.0 - Digitisation Made in Germany”.

Guests this year showed particular interest in the “Wirtschaftswunder Packet”, designed with the mid-size sector in mind, as well as in the “Industry 4.0 Packet”. This packet enables small and mid-size businesses to get started using IP-based network communications on a plug&pay basis. The packet includes everything a machine requires in order to connect to the network: hardware, a SIM-card with a data tariff as well as access to the online platform, “Cloud of Things”. The platform is hosted by Telekom on highly secured platforms in Germany. Products relating to security were a further focus during this year’s exhibition. From the second quarterly period of 2015, together with the four German IT security providers, Telekom will offer private as well as small and mid-sized clients a free software packet. The collection of protection programmes covers all considerable security loopholes which may affect computers, smartphones and tablets. The packet includes an antivirus programme, an application allowing encoded internet access, secured data storage, encoding software for the protection of data stored in the cloud as well as a programme which secures the user’s private sphere while surfing the internet.

Interest in Telekom's “Wirtschaftswunder 4.0” was considerable. This is reflected in the results of the survey carried out on visitors at the stand:

  • More than 100,000 guests visited the Telekom exhibition stand
  • The duration of time visitors spent at the stand increased by 28% in comparison to 2014. On average, guests spent 11 minutes at the stand
  • Most frequented presentations in the range of “Wirtschaftswunder 4.0” were “Industry 4.0 Package” and “Digitisation Package Office”

Aesthetic highlights of the Telekom exhibition stand were the roof of the stand, which consisted of more than 1000 magenta umbrellas, as well as seven industrial robots. Umbrellas and robots were choreographed according to what was going on on the stage and the stand itself. The constant movement gave the impression of an open, dynamic space. The theme of the exhibition, “Wirtschaftswunder 4.0 - Digitisation Made in Germany” was vividly enacted by a drawing robot, a bicycle connected to the digital network and a hybrid-turbo.

"By focusing on the theme, “Wirtschaftswunder 4.0”, Telekom was able to present itself as a strong partner for the increasing worldwide digitisation of economies. A highlight was our industrial robots under a sky of umbrellas, which were digitally controlled via the cloud network. For guests, these robots symbolised and made visible the fourth industrial revolution - the coming together of physical and digital worlds.” said Antje Hundhausen, Vice President 3D Brand Experience at Deutsche Telekom.
