"T" goes to Albania

  • Albanian Mobile Telecommunications (AMC) becomes Telekom Albania
  • Twelfth country across Deutsche Telekom’s European footprint to introduce the Telekom brand identity
  • Albanian customers to benefit from innovative products and superior services

Deutsche Telekom’s brand goes to Albania. Telekom Albania is the new name of the leading mobile operator in Albania, as announced in Tirana today. The company was the first mobile operator to start commercial operations in Albania almost 20 years ago under the name of AMC (Albanian Mobile Telecommunications). It became part of Deutsche Telekom Group via OTE’s (Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A.) acquisition in 2008. As of tomorrow, the company will officially adopt the Telekom brand identity and operate under the "T" logo.

"Our "T" logo carries the power, quality and expertise of the most valuable telecommunications brand in Europe. I am very pleased to welcome Telekom Albania to the Magenta family. The rebranding shows how strongly we are committed to Telekom Albania and its employees," said Claudia Nemat, Board Member Europe and Technology at Deutsche Telekom. "Our aim is to become the leading European telecommunications provider and offer best customer experience driven by our technological leadership."

Albania becomes the twelfth country across Deutsche Telekom’s European footprint to turn Magenta, acquiring the Telekom brand identity and values: Innovation, Competence and Simplicity. For Albania this already translates today in superior services, starting with the launch of 4G.

Moreover, customers will be able to experience the new Telekom brand via significant changes across shops and main customer touch points, such as the company’s new website.

The official launch of Telekom Albania is being celebrated within a series of interactive events. As a key highlight, the media campaign "We connect people in Europe!", which Deutsche Telekom has launched in twelve European countries, is being brought to life with almost real-scale landmark buildings featured in the campaign. The display, taking place on Tirana’s main square, invites people to experience how Telekom Albania connects them to Europe, true to Deutsche Telekom’s slogan "Life is for sharing", or "Çaste qe na Lidhin" in Albanian, which literally translates as "Moments that connect us". Hans-Christian Schwingen, Chief Brand Officer at Deutsche Telekom, who led the rebranding for the Group, commented: "The Albanian slogan helps to reflect the essence of our brand. We are all seeking the company of others while sharing special moments. That’s what our brand stands for: Being connected enriches people’s lives."
