Speedport Smart: the intelligent router for the networked smart home

  • Wi-Fi router for all current Internet speeds, vectoring and fiber optics
  • Super-fast Wi-Fi with up to 2,100 Mbit/s and improved range
  • Numerous additional convenience functions such as Wi-Fi guest mode

Simple, fast, secure and versatile – the new Speedport Smart takes Wi-Fi reception at home up a gear. Up to four antennas per frequency provide a wider range and speeds of up to 2,100 Mbit/s. But that is not the only generous feature of Speedport Smart: up to 100 Wi-Fi devices can also be added to the home network very easily. For example, compatible smartphones can be added using contactless NFC technology or a QR code, meaning there is no need to type in long Wi-Fi passwords. As a result, the new router is perfectly equipped for dealing with the subsequent addition of more smart home devices. That also applies to television and EntertainTV. Depending on the line that is booked, the router supports several simultaneous high-resolution TV streams.

The Speedport Smart is compatible with ADSL, VDSL, vectoring and fiber-optic lines. In addition to the two direct ports for analog telephones, it also has a cutting-edge DECT-CAT iq 2.0 base station that can support up to five Speedphones with HD voice quality. The preset Wi-Fi and DECT encryption provide excellent security, as does botnet protection for the home network.

Like all current Speedports, the new router supports automatic configuration and the DSL Help app, which means it is quick and easy to set up. While the most important settings can be made in standard mode via the new user interface, experienced users can activate expert mode to access advanced options. Flexibility and hospitality for guests are further plus points, with WLAN TO GO and the new Wi-Fi guest access option ensuring customers can share their Internet access with visitors and other users.

The Speedport Smart also features a wide range of new convenience functions. For example, the LED indicators can be switched off entirely using sleep mode. If a fault occurs, the Speedport Smart can issue notification messages and suggest solutions over the telephone.

The Speedport Smart is ready for future innovations, and there are plans to continue developing the router functions via the USB connection and software updates. For example, an update scheduled for 2017 will establish a basis for SmartHome applications.

The Speedport Smart is available from September for 159.95 euros, or 5.95 euros per month as a device and service package (4.95 euros from the 13th month), through all Deutsche Telekom sales channels and specialist dealers.
