Deutsche Telekom leads development of integrated SIM for low-cost IoT devices.
nuSIM is an innovative integrated SIM solution that targets the low-cost IoT segment for replacing the physical SIM card, by moving the SIM functionality to the chipset. This solution brings many advantages along the value chain, such as cost and battery efficiency, design advantages, and simplicity.
Deutsche Telekom has brought industry-leading partners together to bring nuSIM to the market in the second half of 2019, in an open ecosystem. In this session, the solution will be presented, followed by a panel discussion. The partners are: Altair, G+D, Goodix, HiSilicon, Nordic, Qualcomm, Quectel, Samsung, Sequans, Sierra Wireless, Telit, and u-blox.
Stefan Kaliner, Head of UICC development, Telekom Deutschland
Stefan Kaliner graduated in 1992 in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dortmund, Germany. Since 1993, he has held several technical positions at Deutsche Telekom in Germany, and since 2010 as has worked as Head of UICC Development responsible for the evolution of SIM cards within the international Deutsche Telekom Group. Various project management tasks, such as for mobile payment and eSIM, plus active participation in international standardization at ETSI and GSMA. Winner of multiple innovation awards.
Mona Parsa Moghadam, NB-IoT product manager, Telekom Deutschland
Mona Parsa finished her master’s degree in Communication Engineering in Germany in 2015 and since then has worked in the Deutsche Telekom Group in different positions and organizations. In her current position as the product manager on the New Access Technology team, she is responsible for SIM and security products for NB-IoT devices within T-Systems.
Andreas Morawietz, Head of the global Product Management for eSIM management services and SIM convergence, Giesecke + Devrient Mobile Security
Andreas Morawietz is Head of the global Product Management for eSIM management services and SIM convergence of Giesecke + Devrient Mobile Security. He joined G&D back in 2001 and is based in Munich.
Working in a variety of management positions since 2009, Andreas has evangelized the adoption of global solutions for eSIM management and is now heavily involved in the strategic impacts for the changing eSIM/xUICC ecosystem, OEMs and CSPs.
During his career, he has been responsible for G&D's global M2M activities and is involved in many commercial remote eSIM management projects around the globe.
Andreas holds an engineering degree in Precision Engineering and Master of Business Administration.
Gerardo Giaretta, Senior Director of Product Management, Qualcomm
Gerardo Giaretta is a Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm. He is part of the IOT Business Unit where he is responsible for Qualcomm activities related to Industry 4.0 and the use of cellular connectivity in private networks. In addition, Gerardo is part of the team developing the IOT security product strategy for Qualcomm.

Omer Harel is Director of SIM technologies in Telit. He has almost fifteen years of experience in the telecommunications industry in the fields of SIM cards, infrastructure, and networking.
For the past four years, he has been leading innovative projects in the IoT ecosystem with Telit.
