Diversity Day: Deutsche Telekom invites managers to share ideas

Diversity Day: Deutsche Telekom invites managers to share ideas
The fourth German Diversity Day will be held on June 7, 2016. Deutsche Telekom will be there. Under the motto “Diversity instead of homogeneity - cultural skills for business success,” Deutsche Telekom will be welcoming managers from the enterprises in the Rhine-Ruhr Diversity Network to the company’s headquarters in Bonn.

The network includes the following enterprises: Bayer, Deutsche Post DHL Group, Deutsche Telekom, ERGO, E.ON, Ford, GEA, Henkel, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lanxess, Metro, RWE, thyssenkrupp, TÜV Rheinland and Vodafone. All have signed the Diversity Charter which, under the patronage of German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel, aims to implement various projects that will push ahead the debate on how to deal with diversity in Germany.

Leadership in tune with diversity
As part of the event, around 100 managers will discuss and experience what it means to manage people from different cultures through recognition, respect and involvement (including leadership), what skills are required as a manager in this context and how these skills relate to a company’s financial success.

Following a brief welcome by Deutsche Telekom Chief Human Resources Officer Christian P. Illek, the program designed jointly by the Rhine-Ruhr Diversity Network will kick off with a speech by Gualtiero Zambonini, the Integration Officer at broadcaster WDR. He will explain how employee potential can be identified and promoted, while setting out what managers need to do to achieve this and just how important communication is. Three workshops – “Diversity Skills,” “Unconscious Bias” and “Gaming: The Diversity Game” – is geared toward promoting awareness and specific approaches. The breaks during the event and the get-together will provide delegates with the opportunity to share views on approaches and where the various businesses now stand, and, of course, to network.

Interested journalists are welcome to attend as guests; registration details can be found here.
