CeBIT 2016: A positive experience for Deutsche Telekom

  • DT successfully positions itself as a partner for digitization
  • Number of visitors to the Deutsche Telekom Stand rises by about 20 percent
  • DT’s TRANSFORUM platform attracts attention with high-profile talks and Lifestyle Smart Fashion Show

On the last day of CeBIT, Deutsche Telekom looks back on a positive experience: The number of visitors to the stand rose by about 20 percent compared to last year. In a particularly satisfying development, 51 percent more visitors came strictly with a business agenda and 39 percent more international visitors came to the stand in the first four days of the trade fair. The Group presented itself as an innovative and reliable partner for digitization to more than 93,000 visitors, with a particular focus on the cloud, networks and security. In all three of these fields, Europe’s leading telecommunications provider presented comprehensive, all-in-one solutions for business and corporate customers.

Just like in previous years, DT didn’t just shine with its products and services, but also with its innovative stand design concept. Over a stand area of 5,000 square meters, it turned the digital transformation into a tangible experience for visitors. One eye-catcher, the 35-meter-wide magenta blossom that hovered over the stand, also turned out to be a particularly popular photographic subject. Exhibits that visitors could engage with were also popular – like the almost four-meter-large container ship that demonstrated how a shipping company monitors its containers and customers’ transported goods with an M2M solution, or the supersized cloud that illustrated DT’s entire cloud ecosystem with solutions for companies of all sizes and different requirements. Visitors could also observe how the Internet of Things (IoT) already shapes our daily lives by tracking the production of a loaf of bread, from the sewing of the seeds to its sale in the bakery.

This year, the “Digital Practice” area presenting industry-specific and reference cases of digitization attracted particularly high levels of interest, as did the onstage TRANSFORUM events that featured 15 high-ranking, executive-level speakers including management and supervisory board members of German and international corporations like Allianz, Zalando, Union Investment, Huawei, Microsoft and SAP. Both visitors and the media were also interested in the Smart Fashion Show, “Bloom of digital Life”, which contributed to the public’s perception of DT as a digital lifestyle brand.

“With this year’s CeBIT motto, ‘Digitization. Simply. Make it happen.’, we wanted to reflect the atmosphere of renewal in the German economy. In Germany – and around the world – DT is a strong partner for the increasing digitization of business. We made this fact tangible for visitors at the stand – and it worked, as the visitor surveys and customer feedback have shown,” says Antje Hundhausen, Vice President 3D Brand Experience at Deutsche Telekom.

Radically digital: Content Factory reports on trade fair in real time
In the area of Corporate Communications, too, DT simply did things digitally in 2016: The press center and media production hub presented themselves as the integrated “Content Factory” this year. The Content Factory, located just behind the main stage, was simultaneously the point of contact for media representatives and the platform for cross-media editorial planning and Deutsche Telekom media content production across all channels. The Content Factory was particularly focused on social media, where it reported on the latest news from the trade fair in real time.

Deutsche Telekom's entire presence at the trade fair is carbon-neutral: All CO2 emissions generated in setting up and operating the stand are offset fully by carbon-reduction projects abroad.

Business is digitizing at an incredible speed and connecting the virtual world with the physical world through the "Internet of Things". Machines communicate with products, vehicles communicate with the connected home and doctors communicate with their patients via smartphones, tablets or wearables. As a partner for SMEs and enterprises, Deutsche Telekom offers a variety of solutions and helps businesses to implement their strategies on the way towards new business models in tomorrow’s digital world.

Quality and service are the determining purchasing factors for business customers, even above price, as a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers has shown. T-Systems has invested heavily over the past few years to achieve a high stability of its IT systems and the reliability of the services it offers. This was confirmed by the 2015 TNS Infratest customer satisfaction survey: For the third consecutive time, T-Systems is among the European IT service providers with the most satisfied customers.
