Deutsche Telekom and newspaper publishers work together

Co-operation agreement with Association of German Newspaper Publishers - Innovative products and solution packages offered jointly to association members At CeBIT 2003, Deutsche Telekom and the Association of German Newspaper Publishers (VDZ) today signed a co-operation agreement in Hanover with an initial term of two years. The partnership with the newspaper publishers is aimed at working together in the areas of marketing, communication and the Internet for the members of the association.

Both partners agreed to work closely on technological issues. Deutsche Telekom will offer VDZ members a broad product portfolio tailored to their needs and develop innovative solutions for the publishing sector. These solution packages will be offered to the members of the VDZ the majority of which are small and medium-sized companies. At the CeBIT fair, Deutsche Telekom presented a new streaming solution for the Internet. This sector-specific product enables publishers to market multimedia content in particular on the web more successfully.

With the co-operation agreement, the VDZ is helping its publishers to expand their online offers in line with the needs of their customers and to reduce costs by using modern telecommunications and information technology.

"As an association, we want to facilitate access to new technologies for our members. In Germany, there is hardly any other company in the telecommunications sector offering a product and service spectrum as broad as Deutsche Telekom", said Wolfgang Fürstner, Chairman of VDZ, at the signing of the agreement, explaining the decision to co-operate with Deutsche Telekom.

"We look forward to being able to respond even more closely to the newspaper publishers' needs in the future", said H.-J. Becker, Head of Business Sales, Deutsche Telekom AG, T-Com . "We have already developed a whole range of special solutions for the publishing and printing industries in the past and will now be able to create innovative IT and telecommunications packages directly in line with their requests.."
