Outlook for CeBIT 2015: Deutsche Telekom presents hands-on digitization solutions

"Wirtschaftswunder 4.0 – Digitization made in Germany"

  • Digital business modules for the manufacturing, retail and automotive sectors
  • Cloud solutions for large companies and SMEs
  • Security through real-time cyber alarm

Deutsche Telekom's presentation at CeBIT 2015 is all about digitization: under the motto "Wirtschaftswunder 4.0", the company will present its solutions and consulting packages for digitization, cloud computing, big data and IT security in hall 4, stand C26.

Peek into the factory of the future
The increasing networking and automation of manufacturing processes – also called "Industry 4.0" – is one of the hottest topics in business. Deutsche Telekom wants to support companies on their way to the new industrial age. At this year's CeBIT, it will show how a fully digitized production chain might look like in practice – including personalized customer ordering, just-in-time ordering of the necessary components, manufacturing and delivery of the goods.

M2M is a crucial element for the fourth industrial revolution. Today, many companies already use solutions that digitize individual processes – such as the maintenance of machinery and systems – in the spirit of Industry 4.0. In addition to business solutions, Deutsche Telekom will also present several connected products for consumers, such as a Gillette box for the simple replenishment of disposable razor blades at the touch of a button.

The company will be presenting a variety of digitization concepts for individual industry sectors at its stand. They include an end-to-end solution for retail (future supermarket, connected store), a sales and after-sales application for car manufacturers and dealerships and a solution for processing digital records by public authorities.

Digitization packages for SMEs
Deutsche Telekom has developed a number of different digitization packages specifically for SMEs. Examples include a router with PBX features, a full end-to-end M2M package for connecting machines to the Internet for monitoring and control, and a managed hot spot for businesses who want to give their customers free, secure Internet access. The company will also premiere its new MagentaEINS Business packages, which unify the fixed and mobile networks, data communications and cloud software in a comprehensive package.

The cloud for everyone
Companies that want to procure their IT from the cloud in future will also find support at Deutsche Telekom's stand: Telekom will be presenting a number of platforms and services that help IT departments with the transformation of infrastructure, software and workplaces to the cloud. For the first time, it will demonstrate a solution that lets larger companies manage their complete cloud transformation.

European InterCloud partners Cisco and Deutsche Telekom will present a variety of new services that are based on OpenStack and run by T-Systems as a true, secure, European cloud. They include a public Infrastructure-as-a-Service package and a Wi-Fi network that can be installed in less than 15 minutes. Deutsche Telekom's offerings also include turnkey solutions from the cloud. One of these was created in collaboration with Salesforce: a CRM solution for car dealers that analyzes customer data quickly and effectively.

The new modules of Deutsche Telekom's "Managed IT Services" are intended primarily for large SMEs. One of them is the "Managed Workplace", a fully-equipped managed IT workplace from the private cloud, with integrated telephony and video functions.

Security through cyber alarm system
A digitized, connected economy harbors enormous security risks. Businesses that want to protect themselves against cyber attacks effectively have to identify them as quickly as possible and implement immediate countermeasures. Deutsche Telekom offers the "Cyber Threat Detector" to smaller companies for this specific purpose. Real-time monitoring determines whether a company has become a target of a known attack and, if so, issues an alert directly.

SMEs on the search for an end-to-end system are served by Deutsche Telekom's security platform, which has features that are otherwise only available to major corporations. "Advanced Cyber Defense for SMEs" unifies the myriad requirements of a modern security management system: inventorying the current system, assessing weaknesses, identifying threats and monitoring network activity.

Smart cars
A further focus of Deutsche Telekom this year is car-based digital business models: the company offers "e-charge management" specifically for electric cars. It supports all processes involved in charging electric cars – from navigation to a charging point, the charging process itself, customer management and billing and even load management for the electricity provider. Telekom has partnered with BurdaNews to develop the "myKIDIO" app, a combination of audio books and videos, for long car trips. The full-service cloud platform "Customer Experience Management Automotive" (CEM) connects car drivers, dealerships, workshops and car manufacturers with one another. It will enable car dealers, for example, to send offers to specific customers through the app or make appointments for test drives.

Intelligent analytics
Deutsche Telekom's spectrum of products and solutions includes highly scalable, standardized, platform-based big data products. They enable companies to analyze and securely store information and data from both their in-house CRM and ERP systems and the social web. The exhibits include a big data solution that is based on a SAP HANA platform and a private cloud, which customers can use without high up-front costs.
