Deutsche Telekom offers multimedia storage device for home networks and access on the move

  • Network storage drive LG N1T1 comes with 1,000 GB of storage and built-in DVD burner
  • Multimedia Storage Connect option gives users remote access via smartphone or internet PC plus data synchronization with the Media Center
  • Exclusive cooperation with LG Electronics: device optimized for use by Telekom customers

The LG N1T1 multimedia storage device is a smart 4-in-1 solution for data storage and data access at home as well as on the road. It is a network attached storage (NAS) drive which enables users to safely store up to 1,000 GB of data and use it on various devices such as a TV set or hi-fi equipment via their home network. Additionally, it is easy for users to retrieve data securely via a smartphone or laptop when on the move. Last but not least, data stored on the LG N1T1 drive can be synchronized with Deutsche Telekom's Media Center, an online storage facility. To use the remote access and online storage features, subscribers need the Multimedia Storage Connect option. LG N1T1 is therefore the ideal choice for anyone wanting to store movies, photos and music files at a central point at home as well as being able to access them conveniently at any time when on the move. The new multimedia storage device provides a capacity of one terabyte for storing data - enough to store around 200 blockbusters in HD quality. To optimize data backup, the package comes with special backup software. However, the multimedia storage device does far more than an external hard drive. For example, users can retrieve files from their home network via WLAN on any compatible device, such as a computer, notebook or TV set. This means that entire music libraries can be streamed to a suitably equipped stereo system - all without a PC. The multimedia storage device supports standards such as DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and can function as an iTunes server. A DVD drive with a burning function is built into the LG N1T1 device, enabling further data usage and backup. Customers who subscribe to the Multimedia Storage Connect option can access their NAS drive from virtually anywhere over the mobile and stationary internet, making it child's play to show friends their latest videos or send vacation photos home while they’re still away. Users of this option benefit from a simplified and secure configuration of their remote access function. The option also makes it possible to synchronize up to 25 GB of data stored in the Media Center's online storage. The device comes with an Ethernet and a USB 2.0 port and is compatible with the Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems. For optimum use of the LG N1T1 device, it should be connected to a modern WLAN network router, such as one of the latest Deutsche Telekom Speedports. The network storage version available from Deutsche Telekom is a special edition of the LG N1T1 drive. Under an exclusive cooperation agreement, LG configured the device specially for the Multimedia Storage Connect option and optimized it for use by Telekom customers. The LG N1T1 drive is the first device to be configured for the new multimedia service. The multimedia storage device will be available from Deutsche Telekom from October 14, 2011. The Multimedia Storage Connect option can be added to all complete Call & Surf and Entertain packages. The minimum contract term is one month.
