Marc Elsberg was born in Vienna in 1967. He studied industrial design and worked as a strategy advisor and creative director in the advertising sector. He wrote a column for the "Der Standard" daily newspaper before becoming a novelist in 2000 and publishing a satire and various crime novels. He breakthrough came in 2012 with his fifth novel, the thriller "Blackout". Elsberg is married and lives in Vienna. He appreciates wine and good food, exercises and enjoys going to concerts and the theater.
