MWC: Record number of visitors at Deutsche Telekom stand

At the Mobile World Congress 2019 (MWC), Deutsche Telekom once again positioned itself as a European pioneer in the 5G sector: with a spectacular trade fair architecture and interactive exhibits, it demonstrated what is already possible in the network of the future.

Deutsche Telekom's stand at the Mobile World Congress

The Deutsche Telekom stand recorded an increase of almost 5% over the previous year with around 25,000 visitors.

Deutsche Telekom's stand at MWC invited visitors to participate and experience new solutions first-hand. With more than 2,400 exhibitors from all over the world, the MWC in Barcelona is the most important international trade fair for the telecommunications industry. Again this year, well over 100,000 visitors came to Barcelona to experience the digital trends and technologies of the future. Many of them were attracted to the Deutsche Telekom stand, which recorded an increase of almost 5% over the previous year with around 25,000 visitors - again a record number of visitors.

"5G gets real"

This year's fair staging under the motto #TAKEPART (#DABEI) made it possible to experience the potential of 5G up close. "On 1,200 square meters, we showed live experiences from the most diverse areas, both for consumers and for industry," says Antje Hundhausen, Head of Brand Experience at Deutsche Telekom. The central message: The network of the future already offers a fascinating variety of possibilities today. As a pioneer, driver and enabler of digital transformation, Deutsche Telekom is laying the foundation for everyone to be able to participate in the new, digital world.

Interactive exhibits

Especially the augmented reality game "Codename: Neon", developed in cooperation with Niantic, fascinated the visitors: Via mobile radio and augmented reality several players can interact with each other in real time. This is made possible by the Edge Cloud, which brings computing power very close to the end device and thus to the player - an impressive example of how 5G revolutionizes gaming experiences. With the exhibit "Tangible Virtuality", visitors themselves became part of the digital world. Using virtual reality, they could immerse themselves together in a futuristic world and interact with it.

In cooperation with OSRAM, Deutsche Telekom demonstrated the potential of 5G for the industry. Together with the leading manufacturer of light sources and systems, an innovative campus network was implemented especially for companies. A video link to the OSRAM plant in Munich enabled visitors to follow live how transport trolleys, for example, will be controlled by 5G in the future: Smart factoring for industry 4.0.

Further highlights: the "Smart Cities App" for the digitized city and the "IoT Solution Optimizer" - a tool with which companies can quickly and economically assemble the components for their business area on the Internet of Things.

Focus: Customer Experience

"The MWC is the international platform for networking and the presentation of innovations. Our customers, as well as partners and analysts, want to experience our products up close," says Antje Hundhausen. "With our innovative concept, Deutsche Telekom has made exactly that possible - and thus demonstrated what is already possible today with the technology of the future."
