World Cup: Deutsche Telekom is right in the middle of the action
The 2018 FIFA World Cup gets underway tomorrow in Russia. Deutsche Telekom is celebrating this sports highlight of the year with several special promotions. Here's an overview.
Over the next few weeks, 32 soccer teams will be giving their all, aiming to become the team that holds the World Cup trophy up high on July 15 in Moscow. As sponsor of German Football Assocation (DFB), Deutsche Telekom will be right in the thick of things.
Keep surfing until the ref blows that final whistle
On days when the German national team is playing, on days with semi-final matches and on the day of the final, Deutsche Telekom customers in Germany can get Fußball DayFlat, a special unlimited-data package, for free. This means they can enjoy the DayFlat package free of charge, for a full 24 hours, on each of those dates.
From June 14 through June 24, new customers who choose any of the plans in the MagentaMobil XS through XL range can get a high-end Samsung smartphone, such as the Galaxy S9 or S9+, for just one euro. And they get unlimited data for four weeks.
Netzgeschichten (Network Stories): Experience the World Cup digitally
This week's Netzgeschichten are also all about the World Cup. Moderator Toni has caught the fever, and she informs us that those famous Panini official licensed sticker albums are now also available as apps. Other important tips on the Netzgeschichten: What other apps you need to get for this World Cup, and the best ways to watch the matches (this covers live public broadcasts, viewing with friends at home and viewing via app).
Bierhoff's focus on digitalization
Modern soccer has evolved somewhat – to put it mildly – beyond the "get out there and play soccer" stage. For some time now, Germany's national team has had a general manager: Oliver Bierhoff, Germany's hero of the 1996 European Cup. What is his take on digitalization? How important of a role, in his view, do data play in soccer? To learn his answers, watch our exclusive Deutsche Telekom video interview (duration: 2:56 minutes).
World Cup time is barbecue time
Starting on Friday, June 15, Deutsche Telekom will give all of its consumers a package of Grillido "Grillfest der Nationen" sausages. Each package contains four different Bratwurst-style sausages, with each sausage standing, recipe-wise, for one of this year's top four favorites for the World Cup title – France, Germany, Brazil and Spain. To get their free sausages, customers simply activate a special code via the "Mega Deal" app and then pick up them up at any "real" supermarket. This promotion is part of the weekly "Mega-Deal" that offers customers a range of gifts and discounts.
