Whether it's self-driving cars or smart connected clothing, business models in the digital world of tomorrow will always require a powerful network as a basis.
One example is the fashion industry: New technologies such as augmented reality or 3D printing allow customers to be involved in designing their own fashion items. Telecommunications will thus increasingly become a feature of clothing, literally pressing in ever closer on people. Whether it's wearables or smart clothes with intelligent technology, technical development knows no creative boundaries. Who wouldn't want a blouse that can change from shiny to matte depending on the occasion or mood? Or a jacket that can switch from cool to warm?
Deutsche Telekom sees good opportunities in connecting fashion and technology to impress its customers with innovative products. This is why it has launched the "Fashion Fusion" competition. Fashion Fusion is a long-term talent promotion initiative from Deutsche Telekom. The initiative supports the concept of merging fashion and technology, and promoting innovative smart fashion concepts. In an international competition, young talents from Europe have the unique opportunity to draw upon the aid of experts from industry, the fashion sector and the start-up scene to realize their visionary concepts for high-tech apparel, wearables and digital lifestyle products and bring them to market. Fashion Fusion is supported by Intel, WIRED Germany and Adidas, along with the Premium Exhibition International Fashion Trade Show. The application period runs until August 1, 2016.
