Deutsche Telekom and Huawei to cooperate in development and marketing of M2M offers

  • Partners aim at M2M market expansion by offering innovative products and solutions

Strong partnership for future-oriented telecommunications applications: Deutsche Telekom AG, T-Mobile Deutschland GmbH and Huawei Technologies Deutschland GmbH will work together in the future to develop and market M2M solutions (M2M, machine-to-machine, mobile machine communication). This is what the companies have agreed in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The M2M solutions are based on the contracting parties’ products and services. Huawei Co. Ltd based in Shenzhen, China, is one of the leading providers worldwide of innovative solutions for next-generation telecommunications networks. In terms of mobile machine communication, Huawei Co. produces, among others, modules that are particularly suited for data transfer on the T-Mobile network.

"The cooperation agreement with Huawei is yet another important step in setting the course for our distinct position on the M2M growth market," says Marc Büsgen, Head of Sales Development, T-Mobile Deutschland business customers. "With it we emphasize our claim to offer - together with established international partners on the basis of our mobile broadband network - high-performance standard products as well as tailored solutions that optimally fulfill specific and unusual customer requirements." Peng Wei, President of Deutsche Telekom Business Unit at Huawei Deutschland, explains: "Our agreement with our partners Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile serves to sharpen our profile as the leading telecommunications producer in Germany and Europe. Our innovative products are the technical basis for professional M2M solutions that users can employ to generate convincing added value."

In their Memorandum of Understanding the partners have, among others, agreed on the acquisition of pilot customers for strategic projects, the joint identification and quick development of new customer segments for M2M solutions. In addition, the partners intend to develop joint offers as well as distribution and business models.
