Deutsche Telekom and Securitas Alert Services forge strategic partnership

  • Cooperation in M2M-based security solutions
  • First product of cooperation is the mobile-based all-inclusive Home Security package

Deutsche Telekom and Securitas Alert Services GmbH, the market leader in alarm management, have signed a cooperation agreement. In a systematic approach, the partners aim to jointly further develop the growth market for security solutions on the basis of machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. In addition, they intend to jointly market innovative security products and attract new customers in a targeted manner. The cost-effective Home Security package, in which Deutsche Telekom sets up the mobile connection and provides the installation service, is the first product to result from this alliance. "We look forward to working with Securitas," said Marc Büsgen, Head of Sales Development, Business Customers at T-Mobile Deutschland. "This will enable us to tap another increasingly important market for our M2M products." Jürgen Hahn, Manager of Securitas Alert Services GmbH, stressed: "This partnership with Deutsche Telekom allows us to pool our core competencies, making it possible for us to offer our customers favorably priced security solutions that can be implemented almost anywhere." Partnership for security The partner companies are combining their specific skills and expertise in order to attract new customers and develop highly-reliable security solutions. The focus is on "security for everyone", i.e., smart solutions that combine cost-effective, reliable technology with professional services in order to protect private homes and apartments. The transmission of alarm signals and status reports via T-Mobile's extensive nationwide network plays an essential role in this context. The Home Security package, the first cooperation project between the partners, comprises a high-quality wireless alarm system, professional installation, data transmission to the security control center, and monitoring and professional alarm management by this center. Deutsche Telekom installs the alarm system at the customer’s premises. The system is configured in such a way that all incidents are reported to the Securitas Alert Services emergency and service control center. Trained specialists at the center analyze incoming reports and arrange rapid assistance in an emergency. Securitas Mobil’s intervention network, with near nationwide coverage, plays a crucial role in this process: The alarm drivers, located all over Germany, can reach the threatened premises quickly, carry out checks and introduce any necessary additional security measures. Reports are transmitted to the control center via the T-Mobile network using GPRS technology. In addition, the security package includes a T-Mobile M2M SIM card, which is already factory-installed into the alarm system. Consequently, the manufacturer can program, configure and test the system before delivery. As such, the system is ready for operation immediately following installation, saving valuable working hours. This is also one of the main reasons that Home Security can be offered for such a small monthly charge. Home Security has been available in the Cologne, Bonn and Stuttgart regions since January 1, 2010 and will soon be available throughout Germany.
