  • Agreement covers Deutsche Telekom's European footprint and is effective since 1st October.

Deutsche Telekom and Google have entered into an agreement whereby Google will become the default search provider for millions of mobile phone users. Google search will be available via the web'n'walk browser homepage and the phone's idle screen. Now it will be even easier for Deutsche Telekom's mobile internet customers to access one of the world's leading search engines. The service will be optimised for mobile phone use, with customers being presented with the most relevant information. Roll out began on 1st October across Deutsche Telekom's European footprint. "As the worlds' leading web search providers, Google is best placed to deliver the demanding product requirements we have for our customers. We're focused on innovative solutions and have rapid development schedules which Google can support. Google already provide the search service for our fixed-line business and we expect synergies in the future as we continue to release innovative convergent solutions," says Rainer Deutschmann, Senior Vice President Mobile Products, Deutsche Telekom.
