T-Mobile Deutschland drastically cuts domestic GPRS prices

- New GPRS options portfolio with an inclusive volume at an especially reasonable price - GPRS connection from as little as nine cents per data block

- New data prices also valid for future UMTS services - Mobile data transfer up to 70 percent cheaper

- Price reduction also with Xtra Data T-Mobile Deutschland is drastically cutting its prices for GPRS data transmission and simultaneously presenting its UMTS tariffs for the first time. As from 15 April, the transmission of a data block will cost only nine cents - in all GPRS tariffs. That corresponds to a saving of almost 70 percent compared to existing tariffs. This means you can have even more fun downloading the latest games, logos or ringtones or accessing location-related services in transit. Users who often access t-zones remotely or who often send emails, will benefit from significantly lower monthly flat rates under the new GPRS options with inclusive volumes of transferred data.

"Fast mobile data transmission via GPRS is now a standard feature of almost all mobile phone models", says Martin Knauer, marketing manager at T-Mobile Deutschland. "We want to offer all customers attractive conditions so that they have the possibility to get to know our wide range of multimedia services and use them more intensively than before. Mobile data applications will finally have reached the mass market."

With the new default GPRS connection price for contract customers, the charge for accessing t-zones falls from 29 to nine cents per ten kilobytes (KB). The price for other usage also drops from 29 cents per ten KB transmitted to 19 cents per 20 KB transmitted. The daytime usage price of nine cents remains unchanged.

In future, the T-Mobile GPRS options portfolio for private customers will have three GPRS tariff options with inclusive volumes, instead of two as before. These are T-Mobile Data 1, T-Mobile Data 5 and T-Mobile Data 20. With T-Mobile Data 1, the monthly basic price of just EUR 4.95 includes the transmission of one MB of data. This is sufficient for 1,000 t-zones pages, for example, or enough to send around 333 short e-mails via t-zones. By way of comparison: in the previous GPRS Profi option, the monthly basic price with an inclusive volume of one MB is EUR 9.95.

The new T-Mobile Data 5 GPRS option is recommended for customers who frequently send longer emails, or who often surf the t-zones using PC phones such as the T-Mobile MDA. With this option the monthly basic price of EUR 9.95 includes a transmission volume of five MB. So-called heavy users who regularly surf the Internet via GPRS will save EUR 10 per month using the T-Mobile Data 20 option instead of the current GPRS Office option. With an unchanged inclusive volume of 20 MB, the monthly premium falls from EUR 39.95 to just EUR 29.95. Even pre-paid customers can benefit from a significant price reduction: with Xtra Data, the price for the transmission of ten KB via GPRS has fallen from 29 to 19 cents. The daytime usage price of nine cents remains unchanged.
