"The good spirit among employees makes me feel as though the company is a second family, which helps balance my professional and personal lives."
As one of the world's biggest Information and Communication Technology companies, we offer ambitious employees variety and responsibility. This is even true in countries like Greece where the Deutsche Telekom Group operates subsidiaries without its magenta branding.
As the biggest telecommunications company on the Greek market, OTE seemed like the kind of employer that would offer plenty of diversity and opportunity. Seven years after I started my career there, the company has far exceeded my expectations. I've had the chance to see and learn things that I never would have imagined.
Every day my job brings a variety of challenges since my main responsibility is to create long-term relationships with customers – this includes submitting proposals, negotiating contracts and then ensuring we give our clients the best-possible service. I show customers how our integrated Information and Communication solutions can help their business.
In 2009 I was named the best Sales Account Manager, which was very rewarding. But it wouldn't be possible without two things – working within a very capable team and the continued training Telekom offers. The company helps develop all the qualities and skills to move both the business and its people forward.
Although work is a big part of my life and allows me to reach personal goals, my family is also very important to me – it sometimes takes a lot of hard work to maintain a balance between the two. When I come home from work, there is nothing better than to hug my 5-year-old son. He is now at an age where his comments and remarks really make you laugh until you cry. Beyond my family, I've also supported the charity Actionaid for three years to help battle poverty. I've gotten to see China through my job but I'd love to visit Tanzania and help the Chamwino community first hand – I foster a child there.
