The Road to Berlin: Young entrepreneurs prepare for Startupnight

It won’t be long now before the next Berlin Startupnight opens its doors. On September 7, about 250 startups will be introducing themselves to the world at Germany’s largest startup fair. At events held in Munich, Cologne and Aachen under the heading the “Road to Berlin” a number of young entrepreneurs have already had the opportunity to showcase their business ideas in advance of Startupnight. The winners were granted a wildcard entry in the grand final of the Berlin Startupnight.  

At the Road to Berlin events, startups from the high-tech sector were given three minutes each to pitch their business ideas to the specialist jury. And we would like to announce the winners here:

The Munich winners were IDEE and Nova. IDEE provides a strong authentication system and blockchain identity solution for businesses. Nova combines jewelery with technology in their lifestyle product, a headset integrated into pearl earrings.

In Cologne, startups from the 5G technology segment also had the chance to introduce their wares to Deutsche Telekom for the Group’s 5G prototyping program. Together with specialist experts, ideas in the field of 5G were discovered and collaborative relationships initiated.

The winners were Sense Glove  Sense Glove, a startup that has developed a glove with which you can genuinely feel your way around the virtual world.

And in Aachen too startups had the chance to introduce themselves in the city’s DIGITAL CHURCH: The DIGITAL CHURCH is a co-working and event space sited in a former church building. And it was where new startup Physiosense impressed visitors with its textile sensor system.

Their textile sensors can be integrated into shelves, car seats and the sole of shoes to analyze the pressure exerted by user behavior. The sensor system is totally flexible, so that it can be adjusted as required in size, shape and sensitivity depending what it is expected to do.

At the 6th Startupnight in Berlin in 2018, more than 250 international startups are expected to showcase their wares in the fields of mobility, energy, communication, artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet of Things, virtual reality, augmented reality and fintech.
