Deutsche Telekom provides mobile telecommunications services in Austria through its local T-Mobile subsidiary. It also offers cutting-edge IT services through T-Systems. As the country's second largest mobile telecommunications service provider, T-Mobile Austria offers both postpaid and prepaid wireless plans through a modern network that covers more than 99 percent of the population and more than 97 percent with LTE-technology. T-Systems is the leading ICT provider for the country's healthcare industry. SDS develops standard software for the banking sector. Its customer-centric GEOS Consulting Team supports GEOS users throughout the product lifecycle, from the choice of system through to productive operation.

  • In 2017, T-Mobile laid the foundation for a digital Austria. In February of that year, the first “Smart City” - use case was presented, where parking spaces in front of the T-Center (the HQ of T-Mobile) were connected with the internet using NB-IoT. In May, the first smart rooftop garden beds in Vienna were opened. Heart of the #ConnectedGardenwas the T-Mobile IoT-Box, where the garden beds are connected with sensors, so the temperature, humidity and the moisture of the soil can be monitored and the data can be transferred to the cloud.
  • In July, T-Mobile reached an important milestone in the development of machine-based communication: Over one million T-Mobile SIM cards are currently worldwide in use.
  • In the autumn, T-Mobile started the roll-out of its LTE network in Viennese underground stations. Since then, Vienna is one of the cities with the best mobile coverage in public transport in the world. In November, T-Mobile launched CarConnect – for the first time drivers can transform their car into a mobile broadband HotSpot. Drivers can check the telemetric data of their car, the location, information on their driving journeys and status, using the CarConnect App on their mobile.
  • At the end of November, T-Mobile kicked off its Austrian-wide Narrowband IoT roll-out, which will be finished by the end of 2018.
  • In February 2018, T-Mobile presented a world premiere: for the first time a mobile operator navigated a drone via 5G in its live network. During these live tests in the Tyrolian capital of Innsbruck, transfer rates of 2 GB per second and a latency of three milliseconds were achieved

T-Systems is one of the five leading ICT providers in Austria.
