200 out of 200 possible points and thus top marks for our climate protection activities: Deutsche Telekom is recommended by Focus as Top-Klima Engagement 2021 (Top climate commitment).
There are many rankings, but Focus, together with Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Stefan Schaltegger from the Centre for Sustainability Management (CSM) at Leuphana University Lüneburg and research partner FactField, took a close look at this one. Among other things, the team compared the development of absolute emissions over several years, considered the climate impact of products and asked about the ambition level of future targets. Companies with more than ten employees and headquartered in Germany were included in the survey. In addition to an online questionnaire, the research team evaluated publicly available information. 130 companies qualified for the list, only two achieved the highest score.
Climate Protection at Deutsche Telekom
Deutsche Telekom has been sourcing the electricity it needs worldwide exclusively from renewable energies since 2021. Climate neutrality is on the agenda for our own operations by 2025 - and by 2040 we have set ourselves the goal of being climate neutral across the entire value chain. Building blocks on this path include the increasing use of more efficient technologies such as fiber optics or 5G, and highly efficient data centers. We are tackling emissions from the production and use phase of our products together with our suppliers. We use the #GreenMagenta label and the Eco-Rating to offer customers transparency and make it easier to find environmentally friendly end devices. In addition, many products and solutions help business customers reduce their own carbon footprint and thus support the transition to a more climate-friendly economy.
Deutsche Telekom's climate protection activities have received numerous awards from experts in the field, which is reflected, among other things, in its repeated inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index or the CDP's renowned Climate A-List.
