Deutsche Telekom is inviting 100 pupils from across Europe to the second Children's Congress - Developing visions and ideas for climate protection in the "Future Camp 2006" - Contribution to UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development - Minister of Education Mrs. Schavan patron. On September 22-24, 2006, Deutsche Telekom will for the second time be holding a Future Congress for children between 12 and 14 in Berlin. The Future Camp 2006 is focusing on "climate protection" and is an official project of the UN decade of Education for Sustainable Development. The event is being staged under the patronage of Dr Annette Schavan, Federal Minister of Education and Research.

The motto of the Children's Congress 2006 is "Our World is the World of Tomorrow - Children and Climate Protection" and raises the question of how children can approach this issue with sustainability in mind. The Future Camp gives children a platform to get involved and let their imagination roam free to develop ideas and visions for their own future. In order to highlight the international significance of the climate protection issue Deutsche Telekom is now also encouraging children from all across Europe to participate. It will cover expenses for travel, accommodation and board as well as staging the three day event. All in all 100 places are available.

"Climate change and protection are relevant topics in discussing the model of sustainability and are to be included in the educational process. We are creating a platform with the Children's Congress 2006 in which participants, educators and experts can approach the topic in a playful, creative and interactive manner in a number of workshops," highlights the Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom Kai-Uwe Ricke.

Questions the Future Camp will be dealing with include why the climate is changing and what individuals can do to slow down climate change. Other workshops look into ideas for environmentally friendly houses and means of transport as well as the role of politics and international organizations in climate protection. The findings of the workshops will be presented to experts, celebrities and journalists at the closing Future Show on September 24.

In collaboration with the "schools online" (Schulen ans Netz - SaN) association, Deutsche Telekom is informing all teachers and inviting pupils via SaN to apply to take part in the Congress. To take part children have to submit an application in which they cover the topic "Climate affects us all." There are no limits to their creativity and they can put their ideas and thoughts into essays, collages, PowerPoint presentations or any other shape and form. The closing date is Friday, 19 May 2006. Application forms and plenty of additional information are available on the Future Camp website: http://zukunftscamp.telekom.de.
