Telekom Cup 2017

The ninth Telekom Cup is being held on July 15, 2017 at BORUSSIA-PARK in Mönchengladbach. Competing in the tournament are the host team, Borussia Mönchengladbach, record champions FC Bayern Munich, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and SV Werder Bremen. Just as in the winter break, Deutsche Telekom is yet again guaranteeing fans their fix of top-end soccer during the lean time between seasons.

Director of Sport at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Max Eberl: “The Telekom Cup is a fantastic tournament that has real value due to the excellent teams that compete in it. Over recent years, it’s become a core part of our preparations for the season.”

The preparatory tournament has been held on the home turf of Borussia Mönchengladbach twice before, in 2013 and 2015, and is timed to coincide with the start of the team’s season. On both previous occasions, the hosts came up against the giants FC Bayern Munich in the semi-finals or final.

“We are really pleased to have the Telekom Cup at our ground for the third time. We want to show again that we’re a great host and we’re looking forward to introducing our new team to the fans during this tournament,” explains Borussia’s manager, Stephan Schippers.

Four games lasting 45 minutes each will be played – two semi-finals, a play-off for third place and a final. There will be no extra time if games end in a draw. Instead, the winner will be decided on penalties alone. Exactly who will play who and when will be announced at a later date.

The Telekom Cup 2017 in Mönchengladbach is guaranteed to be full of fantastic goals and excitement – and also has a varied supporting program.

“Top-level soccer and a colorful program for all the family make the Telekom Cup a really special experience,” says Hiro Kishi, Head of Sports Sponsorships at Telekom Deutschland GmbH. As usual, tickets are available at fan-friendly prices between €12.50 and €40.00 and go on sale on April 21, 2017. All relevant information is available at www.telekomcup.de.
