Deutsche Telekom to Boost Innovation in Software Development

Deutsche Telekom today announced plans to develop and promote tools that will help make it intuitive for developers using Microsoft Visual Studio to mash up Deutsche Telekom's world-class network services with applications built for Microsoft Corp.'s device and cloud technology platforms. This collaboration will allow Microsoft's global community of millions of software developers to create powerful interactive applications that run on the PC, Slate, TV, and mobile devices that embed features from Deutsche Telekom's Developer Garden platform www.developergarden.com like Call Control, SMS, Conference Call, Scout24 Classifieds APIs and Billing. The collaboration with Microsoft will promote the ability to quickly develop innovative applications that expose Deutsche Telekom's network features to the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) community world-wide. Microsoft and Deutsche Telekom will evangelize Deutsche Telekom's APIs to the MSDN community through joint articles, activities and events. Deutsche Telekom, with a customer base of 129 million mobile users, 34 million fixed-network lines and approximately 17 million broadband lines will distribute the .NET software development kit (SDK) on its Developer Garden portal, educate its community, and utilize Microsoft platforms and devices for applications developed by Deutsche Telekom businesses. "This cooperation between Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft addresses the mega-trend web-mobile convergence that combines the services available over the web, like billing, identity, and targeted advertising, with communications services such as SMS and Call Control. Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft are also targeting multi-screen application developers, a huge untapped community," said Dr. Rainer Deutschmann , Senior Vice President Core Telco Products at Deutsche Telekom . "The collaboration will provide the mechanism for web and application developers to monetize their work in an intuitive development environment that is used by the vast majority of Microsoft developers, Visual Studio 2012. The combination of telco functionalities from Deutsche Telekom with Microsoft developer experience in web and application development will help drive innovation in applications and services. Customers world-wide will experience entertainment and productivity applications built with Microsoft Visual Studio that embed core services of Deutsche Telekom.
