  • 100 residential and business customers of HT, including media representatives, started testing the latest generation LTE network

Hrvatski Telekom, the leading provider of telecommunications services in Croatia, is enabling its customers to enjoy surfing at bitrates up to ten times higher than provided by current solutions. After a competition in early July, HT is providing selected customers in Zagreb, Rijeka and Split with the possibility to test, totally free of charge and on an everyday basis, the LTE technology - the most advanced generation of mobile network which offers download bitrates up to 150 Mbit/s. No residential customer in Croatia has ever had the opportunity to surf at such speeds. Hrvatski Telekom is providing this opportunity to approximately one hundred selected customers - residential, business and media representatives who reside in an area covered by the LTE signal. A large number of customers showed interest in testing the fourth generation mobile network. During the test phase which will end on 30 September 2011, HT will collect customer experiences in order to be able to provide best quality of service and fastest surfing speeds in the future commercial operation of the LTE network. LTE technology provides advanced possibilities in the use of services that require high bitrates in wireless data transmission and faster access to applications such as video contents (Youtube, mobile TV and the like), online gaming and a whole range of applications based on the new Web 2.0 standards. Back in October of last year, Hrvatski Telekom has conducted, for the first time in Croatia, a live demonstration of the LTE test network, and by the end of March of this year, a video conference connection was set up between Rijeka and Zagreb making use of LTE technology. LTE testing by customers is a further step in implementation of this state-of-the-art technology, the commercial use of which will be provided by HT already in the course of the year 2012.
