Internet access made easy – with "Network Manager" from T-Home
- Makes setting up Internet access and home networks a snap
- Helps people help themselves
- Monitors all connected devices
- Also suitable for mobile access
- Available free of charge for all common routers
When you're connected, you're connected: T-Home's new "Network Manager" can help almost anyone set up and manage Internet access and a home network. The software guides you step-by-step through all relevant installation processes – for all devices, including routers, PCs, notebooks, media receivers and other devices. Once Network Manager has been used to set up a home network, it shows the network's status – in a clear, understandable format – at all times (i.e. any time the user wishes to check the status). And if any problems occur in the user's online connection (i.e., including data transfers), Network Manager provides valuable troubleshooting assistance. The software, which supports all common router models, is now available free of charge for all Internet users.
Simple toolkit for problem-free surfing Let's face it – many users find it a challenge just to set up their Internet access. And in today's online world, home networks commonly include not just a PC, but also laptops and home-entertainment devices, all of which need to be able to interact both with the Web and with each other. In Network Manager, Deutsche Telekom now gives users a powerful tool for easy, fast set-up and management of personal networks. Network Manager quickly gets devices "talking" to one another and delivering proper surfing performance. Many devices tend to keep users guessing when connection errors occur. Network Manager eliminates such guesswork:
- Its "DSL connection test" function checks to make sure the user's router is properly connected to all devices and to the user's DSL access.
- A "connection monitor" shows the current connection status. Network Manager's monitoring feature shows all of the devices connected to the network – in a clearly structured way.
- Via a rights management function ("Freigaben"), the user can control network authorizations for folders and additional drives.
- Helping people help themselves: Network Manager identifies problems as they occur, carries out initial error analysis and provides to-the-point troubleshooting assistance. And in cases in which a problem persists, Network Manager still collects all of the information the user needs when he or she calls a hotline.
For T-Home customers who use a "Speedport" WLAN router, the Network Manager can also provide additional status information, including DSL synchronization, firmware information and WLAN statistics.
The surf's always up Network Manager also shows mobile users where to get Web access: Its "Hot-Spot Autologin" function shows the nearest available T-Mobile Hotspot, and it can automatically connect the user's laptop to that Hotspot – without the users even having to open a browser window. T-Home customers will find it easy to register for HotSpot use. As to applicable charges, they can choose between a flat rate or call-by-call rate. For all other Internet users, a range of time-credit packages are available at the HotSpot Web site: A "HotSpot Pass" for 60 minutes costs EUR 8, while a 30-day pass costs only EUR 29. Network Manager ("Netzmanager") is now available for free download at www.t-online.de/netzmanager. This new software is continually being improved. Users are automatically notified whenever new versions become available, and the update process itself is launched by a single click.
