Round-the-clock air rescue: Rega opts for dynamic SAP operation from T-Systems

  • Contract extended ahead of time
  • Switch from static to dynamic SAP operation

The Swiss air-rescue service Rega is switching its static SAP operation to dynamic services from T-Systems and at the same time extending its contract with the Deutsche Telekom subsidiary. The SAP applications form the basis for the deployment of personnel, helicopter and jet aircraft at Rega, which carries out around 14,000 rescue missions each year. As a result, Switzerland’s independent, non-profit air-rescue organisation will in future be able to rely on rapid adjustments to SAP capacities round the clock.

"T-Systems makes resources available to us as needed and within the shortest time, and we pay only for the services we have actually used," said François Hochstrasser, CIO for Rega. All the SAP services are provided from T-Systems’ Swiss computing centres in Zollikofen and Langenthal. Redundancy ensures the fail-safe operation the organisation requires. 24-hour operation 365 days a year is a central requirement, since Rega operates round the clock - people can count on fast, straightforward assistance from the air at any time.
