t-online.de - important "port of call" for political news
A representative survey by Infratest dimap has shown that 15 per cent of the interviewed Internet users get their information on current political events from the news portal of t-online.de. This puts Germany’s biggest Internet portal clearly ahead of some other online news portals. The most popular site was Spiegel Online with 19 per cent according to the survey.
In the survey which did not offer a choice of possible answers and was conducted among 1,000 Internet users throughout Germany, t-online.de/nachrichten was far ahead of the online offering of other news providers, such as Tagesschau (9 per cent), ZDF (7 per cent) and N24 (6 per cent).
"That users have such a good opinion of us is an honor and at the same time an incentive for us to continue to provide up-to-date and well founded multimedia news coverage", says Ralf Baumann, Head of Portal t-online.de.
Not only the voting behavior of users, but also the figures speak for quality: According to AGOF internet facts 2009-I, t-online.de/nachrichten is Germany’s news portal with the broadest reach, with 3.23 million users, in front of RTL News (3.07m users), Spiegel Online Politik (2.64m users) and the news offering of Bild.de (2.62m users).
