From the sofa to the stage: Red Hot Chili Peppers entered 360 degree virtual reality

  • Successful premiere of the 360 degree concert live stream
  • Telekom Street Gigs in 40 countries for the first time
  • Videos, interviews und photos at: www.telekom-streetgigs.de

The first 360 degree live stream in Germany on YouTube was a full-on success: The US superstars Red Hot Chili Peppers delighted over 1.300 fans while playing the Telekom Street Gigs at Kraftwerk Berlin, and over hundreds of thousands of users worldwide, who connected via smartphone, tablet and desktop. For the first time a live stream of the music community program of the Deutsche Telekom could be watched not only in Germany, but in 40 countries, including Argentina, Poland, Japan, Croatia and Canada.

Multiple 360 degree cameras enabled an all-around view on stage, in the front row and above the audience - a world premiere. Viewers who followed the live stream on their smartphones with virtual reality gear experienced the Street Gig in a whole new dimension – as if being able jump from ones sofa right onto stage.

"We strive to translate our brand promise “Life is for sharing” into action with technical innovations at all times. Together with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the 360 degree live stream in the fastest network, we created a successful premiere with technology of the future," says Michael Schuld, Head of Communications and Sales Telekom Germany. "To make this happen, we need innovative and bold partners that fit to us. The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Warner Music Germany are just that."

Red Hot Chili Peppers enter new ground
The Red Hot Chili Peppers were also thrilled to write new band history after 33 years. The rock-heros’ setlist delivered big time: Dark Necessities from the new album The Getaway, which has been in the German charts for weeks, fascinated the audience just as much as classics like Snow, Under The Bridge, Californication or By The Way.

After the exclusive performance at the Telekom Street Gigs, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will return to Germany for a tour in November. They will play in Munich (11.1.), Berlin (11.03.), Cologne (11.03.), Hannover (11.14.) and Frankfurt (11.19).

Further Information and a video on demand of the band’s performance will be available in a few days at: www.telekom-streetgigs.de
