More than 2,000 years ago, the Romans called the city we now know as “Trier” Augusta Treverorum. Residents and tourists can see the Roman past wherever they look. Porta Nigra, the Imperial Baths, the Amphitheater... Many of the city’s monuments are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Yet there is much more to discover in Trier city center than just “old stones”, including green oases such as the Palace Garden and Nells Park – great places to walk, chill or jog in the heart of the city.

Attractive leisure activities

Cycling tours along the Moselle, relaxed wine-tasting sessions in one of the many vineyards or hiking in the great outdoors: There is so much to experience in and around Trier. All this is enough to make you hungry. “Flieten”, fried chicken wings served with bread, are a regional delicacy found on almost every street corner. Late-night revelers will love Trier’s events, concerts, and parties. The Tuchfabrik and Exzellenzhaus are just two of the city’s best places to party, let your hair down, and dance. And if you fancy a change to Germany’s oldest city, you can take a trip to neighboring Luxembourg.
