Wayde van Niekerk wins gold at the 400 meters final at 2016 Rio Olympics and smashes the previous world record.

A perfect moment: Wayde van Niekerk makes athletic history at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Clocking 43.03 seconds, the reigning world champion outpaced his rivals to set a new world record. The 24-year-old South African was 15 hundredths of a second faster than Michael Johnson who previously held the record for 17 years.

With this record-breaking win, van Niekerk did not only thrill his fans but also T-Systems South Africa who has been sponsoring this exceptional athlete since May.

"We're proud of Wayde and are honored to have had the opportunity to sponsor him. He is a highly professional and target-oriented individual. These are values that we too pursue", says Gert Schoonbee, Managing Director of T-Systems South Africa. "We see Wayde as an inspirational figure. Clearly because we too want to set our own business records."
