The US regulatory authorities have approved the planned merger of T-Mobile USA with MetroPCS. That’s one big obstacle out of the way, as the merger with AT&T failed at the end of 2011 because of the regulators’ refusal.

Deutsche Telekom has obtained the last necessary authorization from the US regulatory authorities for the planned merger of its subsidiary T-Mobile USA with the American mobile communications provider MetroPCS.

Following the approval of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the US Department of Justice (DoJ) in recent days, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) gave the go-ahead for the integration of the two companies today.

The CFIUS is the responsible security agency in this case. Now, the only thing missing is the approval of MetroPCS shareholders. The extraordinary general meeting is taking place on April 12, 2013.
