Data centers are the fastest growing category of ICT emissions

The abatement potential of ICT is over seven times its own emissions. Data centers’ footprint was the smallest of the three categories in 2011. Data centers accounted for 17 percent of total emissions. Data center emissions are expected to increase most rapidly. A growth rate of 7.1 percent until 2020 is expected.
