The climate crisis presents mankind with an unprecedented challenge. The World Climate Conference will take place in Madrid from 2 to 13 December 2019. It is considered one of the most important summits of the United Nations.
Determined and rapid action by politicians, industry and private individuals is necessary to keep global warming below the critical limit of 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Deutsche Telekom has recognized this and is therefore involved in many areas. The Science Based Targets Initiative has scientifically confirmed to Deutsche Telekom that its measures help to achieve the important 1.5 goal.
Deutsche Telekom's climate protection targets are deliberately aligned with the latest scientific findings.
Deutsche Telekom’s climate protection targets include
- The reduction of CO2 emissions by 90 percent compared to 2017 (by 2030)
- 100 percent use of electricity from renewable energy sources as early as 2021
- Group-wide climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest
- The reduction of CO2 emissions from supply-chain and use-phase (Scope 3) per customer by 25 percent compared to 2017
