Are you over the age of 60 and an active Internet user? Do you help others learn to use the Internet and enrich their online experience? Do you know other people over 60 who actively support seniors in discovering the online world? If so, you can compete for the Golden Internet Award 2016 – you need to submit your projects by September 16th. The categories for this year's competition include Daily Use, Social Engagement and Start-Up. A total of EUR 8000 in prize money will be awarded.

The competition was announced on July 11, 2016, by the German Alliance of Senior Citizen Groups (Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Senioren-Organisationen e.V. – BAGSO), German Network Security Association (Deutschland sicher im Netz e.V. – DsiN), Pathways to Senior Fellowship (Wege aus der Einsamkeit e.V. – Wade), Google Germany and Deutsche Telekom. "Digital perspectives for seniors" is the motto for this year's competition, which will focus on three participant categories. "Young and Old – together online" is a special award that will highlight multigenerational projects. Submissions can take the form of an actual experience report, a project description, video documentation or presentation.

Who can participate?

The Golden Internet Award is intended for seniors who are not afraid of actively using the Internet and who are interested in learning about new media. Participants should be role models who are dedicated to motivating other seniors when it comes to online activity. The competition is open to individuals over 60, as well as senior citizen organizations and initiatives that help seniors come to terms with the Internet. In addition, people of all ages are encouraged to nominate senior friends or relatives who are Internet role models – multigenerational projects will also be taken into consideration.
