

Cloud Services from Switzerland: SBB continues its journey with T-Systems

The journey continues: Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen (SBB - Swiss Federal Railways) and
Entire infrastructure and PaaS in the cloud
The contract covers, on the one hand, virtual systems and SAP HANA appliances, which will be made available in the future as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). The second part of the contract deals with "Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)" services, which are brought together in a platform based on Red Hat’s OpenShift .
The solution is based on a combination of international and local services. T‑Systems is developing a cloud in Switzerland in which applications can be operated with stringent Service Level Agreements (SLA) and rapid response times.
The economy is being digitized at breakneck speed and is connecting the virtual with the physical world in the "Internet of Things." Machines communicate with products and vehicles with the connected house, while doctors use smartphones, tablets and wearables to communicate with their patients.
