Combined security for houses and apartments: Telekom establishes joint venture with Securitas Alert Services

  • Collaboration partners offer single-source security package
  • Security services and reliable data connection, complete with installation and customer consultancy on site
  • Product launch in two regions on 1 March 2011

Connected life for the security of houses and apartments: Telekom has established a marketing joint venture with Securitas Alert Services GmbH. The two partners are combining their service portfolios to create a single service package for effective security services, combining the security solution from Securitas Alert Services with Telekom's telecommunications services. The experts of the technical support department at Telekom take on installing the required technical components, as well as advising the customer on site as to the optimum use of the security system.

Securitas is one of the leading suppliers of expert security solutions, including services to protect persons, buildings and vehicles. Securitas Alert Services specialises in professional alarm management. The company currently has more than 44,000 customers.

The Securitas emergency and control centre is the alarm management hub. Qualified experts monitor and process incoming alarms from the connected alarm systems around the clock.

The services from Securitas Alert Services are one component of the new security product, while Telekom's reliable mobile network and technical customer support being the other. Customers book the full package at a fixed monthly rate. In exchange, they receive an alarm system that is equipped with a M2M (machine-to-machine) SIM card from Telekom. In the case of an emergency, the SIM card sends a message to the Securitas emergency and control centre. If desired, Securitas Alert Services sends a security officer to the customer’s house or apartment immediately when an alarm is triggered. The alarm system can also be activated and controlled remotely: Securitas Alert Services offers a specialised iPhone app, making it possible for customers to call the alarm system for remote access through the Telekom network.

The joint venture with Securitas Alert Services is in line with Telekom's strategy of developing services for connected life. This new security product enables customers to effectively protect their homes through the combination of alarm system, monitoring and telecommunications. The new package will be available as of 1 March 2011. Initially it will be sold at 29 Telekom shops each in the Hamburg/Bremen and Cologne/Bonn/Dusseldorf regions.
