- Major international contract for T-Systems
- Linde AG commissions Deutsche Telekom subsidiary to provide data center and storage services
- Further steps planned
T-Systems and Linde AG have signed a contract for pan-European data center and storage services. This large order has a volume in the hundreds of millions of euros and is due to run for seven years. It constitutes a further milestone in the international growth strategy of Deutsche Telekom's corporate customers arm.
Within the scope of the outsourcing contract, T-Systems will consolidate Linde's data centers in Munich, Stockholm, and Guildford (UK) in its own data center in Munich. The transition to the new service provider for information and communications technology (ICT) will take place as of April 1.
This order will strengthen T-Systems' position in the manufacturing industry and underlines the company's international growth strategy: "We can service customers with global operations at both their headquarters and their international locations," commented Reinhard Clemens, member of Deutsche Telekom's Board of Management and CEO of T-Systems. It was this international delivery capability, coupled with in-depth knowledge of the industry and an innovative ICT solution like Dynamic Services, that had also convinced Linde, he added. "We are happy to have beaten our strong, international competitors in the competition for this contact," Clemens said.
Under the new contract, Linde will procure and pay for its future data center and storage services in a dynamic way that is fully tailored to its current requirements and its own business processes. These Dynamic Services offered by T-Systems have the advantage that fixed costs are turned into variable costs, the volume of data center and storage services rises or falls depending on business trends, and any necessary investments are spread over several years due to outsourcing. T-Systems has also presented Linde with a sustainable concept for staff migration. The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary is taking over a total of 39 IT specialists from the group. The two companies are also setting up a joint innovation center in which experts from both sides will develop new, promising solutions for the Linde group. The next step the company is planning is to outsource the data centers outside Europe as well as business applications.
