Mobile Navigation - high-performance solution from T-Mobile and NAVIGON

  • T-Mobile and NAVIGON provide a high-performance navigation solution for Android and Windows Mobile cell phones
  • MobileNavigator offers unparalleled convenience whether in the car or on foot
  • Choice between map data for Germany, Austria and Switzerland or the whole of Europe
  • Try the navigation software free for 30 days

Reach your destination quickly, easily and reliably: MobileNavigator soft-ware turns T-Mobile’s Android and Windows Mobile-based smartphones into handy, feature-rich navigation systems. Depending on your choice of map data, NAVIGON’s innovative solution will generate the best route for your journey – whether your trip takes you across Germany, Austria and Switzerland or the whole of Europe. NAVIGON MobileNavigator is coming in August for the T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile G2 Touch and is already avail-able for numerous smartphones running the Windows Mobile operating system. In addition to the navigation solution already released for the iPhone 3G and 3GS, these new cell phone navigation applications are the first results to emerge from the strategic partnership between T-Mobile and NAVIGON.

Professional navigation “Introducing MobileNavigator for the major smartphone platforms provides our retail and corporate customers with reliable, proven and professional navigation software. It extends smartphone functionality even further and provides customers with the smartest route to their destination,” says Frank Wermeyer, Head of Business Marketing at T-Mobile Deutschland. Here are just a few of the MobileNavigator’s outstanding features: extremely fast route calculation, an intuitive user interface, precise voice commands and detailed graphics giving a highly realistic view of streets and roadsigns. It also offers lane-assist, speed-assist (indicating the maximum permitted speed), information on more than two million tourist attractions (available in the Europe software) as well as other points of interest and major destinations and includes a pedestrian mode. It is also possible to subscribe to additional ser-vices such as up-to-the-minute traffic information or map updates. Navigating with the T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile G2 Touch The NAVIGON software for the T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile G2 Touch will be available from the Android Market™ in August 2009. With Android-based cell phones, the MobileNavigator works as an offboard solution: the software is loaded onto the device while route planning is calculated externally on central servers. So the user requests a desired route via a mobile data connection which is then always calculated using the latest map data. T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile G2 Touch users have access to all the usual NAVIGON features, including speed-assist and the indication of tourist at-tractions and other major points of interest along the route. Customers are free to try the software for 30 days with no obligation. Only data charges will apply. If you are on a Combi price plan, these data charges are already included in your flat rate. Purchasing the MobileNavigator after the 30-day period allows you to enjoy unlimited use.

MobileNavigator for the MDA and similar smartphones Currently, the Windows Mobile version of the MobileNavigator is com-patible with the following smartphones: MDA Vario V, IV and III, MDA Compact V, IV and III, Ameo 16 GB, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 and Samsung i900 Omnia. The main benefit of the MobileNavigator is that you are free to use the navigation features as much as you wish once you have purchased, installed and activated the system. There is no additional charge for route planning and no need to buy a separate GPS system. "By expanding our range to include the major smartphones, T-Mobile and Navigon will redefine the mobile navigation market," says Michael Schuld, Head of Sales Marketing at Deutsche Telekom. "Customers can head to one of the 800 Deutsche Telekom Shops across Germany or selected retail partners today to discover the MobileNavigator and a range of dedicated accessories for themselves." They can also pick up SD memory cards containing a free try & buy version of the NAVIGON software. Alternatively, the MobileNavigator can also be downloaded from our website free of charge: www.t-mobile.navigon.com The software auto-installs from the memory card onto the device. Users then have 30 days to trial the full version of the software free of charge. After the trial period, an unlimited license can easily purchased directly from the Windows Mobile smartphone. Naturally, customers may also purchase the MobileNavigator in any Telekom Shop, online, or via T-Mobile's mobile PDA portal. Online purchases must be currently made by credit card. Starting in Q4 2009, you will also have the option of charging the amount to your T-Mobile bill.

T-Mobile customers also benefit from great deals on accessory packs, including accessories for the iPhone. Customers can visit their nearest Telekom Shop or retail partner to kit their iPhone out for incar use (packs include incar charger and mounting bracket). Universal mounting brackets and chargers are also available for other smartphones.
