High-end hardware in one box for communication, information and entertainment: The new Speedport W 723V combines a broadband modem for Internet and Entertain - Deutsche Telekom’s TV service, WLAN router, DSL/VDSL modem and telephone system for Internet or fixed network calls. It supports state-of-the-art ADSL and VDSL technology with bandwidths up to 50 Mbit/s. Speedport W 723V lets users simultaneously surf the Internet, make phone calls and watch TV with Entertain while the device ensures optimum sharing of available bandwidth. Keyword telephony: In addition to the DECT standard Cat-iq > 2.0 the Speedport W 723V also supports Voice over IP - i.e., Internet telephony - and is therefore ideally suited to fully Internet-based DSL connections (all-IP technology). Up to 32 PCs, laptops, printers, hard drives or other devices can connect to the Speedport W 723V via WLAN. Supporting WLAN standard IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n it enables transfer speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s - which means it can send TV signals for Entertain to the Media Receiver in your living room, for example. As well as WLAN there are four LAN sockets for connecting a PC, Media Receiver etc. via a LAN cable, plus a USB 2.0 port. The device implements a range of security measures for WLAN networks and access to the Internet. These include a built-in firewall and encryption using the WEP, WPA or WPA2 standard (WEP = Wired Equivalent Privacy, WPA = Wi-Fi Protected Access). An especially convenient feature is that the firmware is updated automatically when connected to Deutsche Telekom DSL lines. In this case the Speedport also automatically configures Internet access and Internet telephony. The new device also has many useful features for making phone calls over the fixed network (standard or universal line) or via the Internet (VoIP). When used as a telephone system, up to two analog terminal devices (phone, fax or answerphone) can be connected to the integrated TAE-type telephone sockets on the Speedport W 723V, as well as DECT telephones. Free internal calls are then possible, as are internal and external switching, inquiries, holding and alternating.
