The safe starter rate plan that grows with your child

  • MagentaMobil Start: Call any time with the free parent flat rate
  • Calls and text messaging flat rate in the best network – for MagentaEINS customers
  • Flexible add-ons via LTE data options, ideal as a messenger flat rate

With its two new starter rate plans MagentaMobil Start and Family Card Start, Deutsche Telekom is taking another step on the road to being a telecommunications provider for the whole family by providing a wide range of advantages especially for parents whose children are entering the world of mobile communications for the first time. Based on the motto “We all start small, but our needs grow,” the starter rate plans are built on a simple rate plan structure that grows with its user without a contract. At their heart is an attractive basic rate plan that can be complemented by two data options as required: a small data option for newcomers to surfing and a large option for the full surfing experience. When needs grow, the starter offer simply grows with them.

Customers will also have full flexibility in how they pay. Depending on the rate plan they choose, the basic monthly price can be paid either conveniently via the main mobile contract or from a prepay account.

A new feature of the starter rate plans is the standard availability of high-speed LTE with the new data options as well as the 31-day SpeedOn option, which allows all customers to carry over additionally booked SpeedOn data volumes to the next month and use them within 31 days.

Family Card Start

Family Card Start offers wide-ranging advantages for parents whose children are entering the world of mobile communications for the first time. The Family Card Start basic rate plan is available from 2.95 euros. It includes a telephone and text messaging flat rate for Deutsche Telekom’s mobile network and an unlimited parent flat rate to a personal landline number that works even without credit. The basic version of Family Card Start also includes an Internet block that prevents mobile data usage to keep particularly young family members safe while they are out and about. This Internet block is automatically deactivated when an LTE data option is booked. On request, additional blocks can be requested free-of-charge to provide full security for young surfers.

Customers can add on the Data Start S entry-level data option to the Family Card Start basic rate plan for 2 euros per month. Data Start S offers 100 MB with LTE speeds of up to 16 MBit/s. This option is ideal for those starting to using messengers or social networks. Booking the Data Start M data option gives the customer 500 MB with LTE surfing speeds of up to 16 MBit/s for an additional 7 euros per month. This data option is ideal for those who want to share photos and videos with friends on a regular basis.

With Family Card Start, the basic monthly price of 2.95 euros is automatically billed on the linked main mobile contract. And best of all: for MagentaEINS customers, Family Card Start is included and the basic price of 2.95 euros does not apply. The one-time card price to buy Family Card Start is 9.95 euros. Upon activating the card, customers also receive start-up credit of 10 euros.

MagentaMobil Start

The MagentaMobil Start rate plan offers the same benefits as Family Card Start for just 2.95 euros per month. The difference with MagentaMobil Start is that data usage is not blocked in the basic version, but is instead available with the Dayflat rate for a daily usage price of 0.99 euros per 25 MB. MagentaMobil Start is paid for via the prepay account. The Data Start S and Data Start M data options can also be added on to this rate plan for 2 euros and 7 euros per month respectively. As with Family Card Start, there is a one-time card price of 9.95 euros with a start-up credit of 10 euros on activation.

Top up credit even more easily

To complement the offer for children and teenagers, it is now possible to top up amounts starting at 5 euros in Telekom Shops and at Deutsche Telekom’s Cash & Go partners (depending on the listing). In addition, it will be even quicker and easier in the future to top-up prepay credit online and via the free “Prepaid Aufladung” top-up app for iOS and Android. With the new automatic top-up, it is even easier for customers to top up their credit: on a preferred date, when the credit drops below 5 euros, or when the bill for the rate plan or option falls due. In just a few clicks, customers can set up or edit their top-up, or top up their credit immediately.

Mobile child protection add-on

With the starter rate plans, the new LTE data options and the simplification of prepay top-ups, parents can expect even more in the future. Entering the mobile world of MagentaMobil will be even safer for little ones. Starting November 30, parents will be able to book the new Deutsche Telekom “Kinderschutz” child protection option on their Deutsche Telekom fixed-term mobile contract. This device-independent solution for smartphones, tablets, PCs and laptops allows children to access only websites that are suitable for them and only at certain times of day, which can be individually defined. The child protection app provides protection not only when surfing on the mobile network, but also on private and public wireless networks or HotSpots. The child profile can be set up and managed simply and conveniently via an app or on the web portal. Thanks to Deutsche Telekom, child protection is now child’s play. An additional expansion of the child protection option is already planned. The option will be complemented in the portfolio by additional security functions to support child- and age-appropriate Internet use.
