Social networking has a role in reducing emissions

Social networking is becoming a major part of society. The number of social network users is expected to grow from a little less than a billion users in 2010 to around 1.7 billion in 2015. Information and communication technology (ICT) obviously plays an enabling role for all of the popular social networking sites, but it is also involved in many other social networking and crowd sourcing applications that can help reduce emissions by allowing the efficient sharing of information and optimal use of materials.
